Executive President of the Romanian Association of Solid Waste Management
Dear Mr. Atudorei,
The 9th edition of the well-established South-East European event ‘Save the Planet’ has started for the first time an institutional partnership with ISWA. Please present in brief the International Solid Waste Association, its main objectives and mission.
ISWA is a global, independent and non-profit making association, working in the public interest and is the only worldwide association promoting sustainable, comprehensive and professional waste management.
ISWA’s declared mission is: To Promote and Develop Sustainable and Professional Waste Management Worldwide.
ISWA is open to individuals and organizations from the scientific community, public institutions and public and private companies from all over the world working in the field or interested in waste management. It is the only worldwide waste association, which allows a networking with professionals, companies and institutional representatives.
Within the important organization, there are established Regional Development Networks.
Please let us in more details about the Network for Southeast Europe, what are its aims and how does it achieve a development in the Region?
ISWA Regional Development Network Southeast Europe, Middle East and Mediterranean (ISWA RDN SESEM) aim is to promote sustainable waste management by carrying out activities and developing programs that focus on the region's special needs and challenges taking into consideration all the local conditions (geomorphology, clime, religion, education, infrastructure, population affordability to pay for the services) and implementing proper and efficient solutions to minimize the risks (political, legal, institutional, financial).
One of the cornerstones of ISWA RDN SESEM is sharing experience, knowledge and information within its network of waste professionals from the region (experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Hungary, Greece, Israel, Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia, Slovenia, Romania and Turkey).
ISWA is going to have a stand at the three-day specialized exhibition ‘Save the Planet’ 2018. What do you intend to present at it?
ISWA is a partner of "Save the Planet" Expo 2018 and ISWA RDN SEMEM will host a booth at the 9th South-East European Exhibition on Waste Management & Recycling on 27-29 March in Sofia, Bulgaria.
This is the first time that ISWA will collaborate with the 'Save the Planet' Expo and we hope that we will see many friends, develop our network deeper into the region and maybe this year one national professional association from Bulgaria will join ISWA as ISWA National Member.
