Amandus Kahl’s solutions for Sofia’s municipal waste and tire recycling.

AMANDUS KAHL GmbH & Co. KG is one of the traditional participants at the EE & RES and “Save the Planet” exhibitions in Sofia (27-29 March 2018). All interested visitors are welcome to their stand.

Mr. Manfred Chittka, the company manager, talks about their realized projects

Mr. Chittka, which kind of interesting recycling plants are sold by Amandus Kahl in the past 2 years?

Currently a new plant for the production of alternative fuel from a mechanical-biological waste treatment plant in Sofia, Bulgaria is being built. The plant is to process about 410,000 t of municipal waste per year. The municipal waste is delivered by truck and buffered in a reception silo. After pre-crushing, the waste is treated biologically in several composting boxes. The biological drying process is followed by mechanical sorting, metal separation and separation of recyclables and problematic materials.

After sorting, the remaining light fraction is buffered in a round silo with bottom agitator. The material is conveyed from the round silo by means of two double trough screws and the proven swiveling waste proportioning screws to two flat die presses 45-1250. The capacity of the pelleting plant is up to 16 t/h of alternative fuel materials.

A waste tire granulation plant delivered in the previous year was put into operation in Saudi Arabia. The plant consists of a pre-crushing plant with shredder and for the first time a pan grinder mill 60-1250 for pre-grinding. Pre-grinding with the pan grinder mill demonstrates the versatility of the KAHL flat die press. Two downstream parallel granulation presses 60-1250 process the crushed tires to high-quality rubber crumb and steel with high purity. With an annual capacity of up to 25,000 t, the plant is one of the largest in the Middle East.

Another waste tire granulation plant with a tire input capacity of 2.5 t/h was put into
operation near Gdansk, Poland.

In Northern Italy the second waste tire recycling plant has already been put into operation. After start of operation, the company is with its two plants the largest waste tire recycler in Italy with a market share of about 20 % and a total capacity of about 50,000 t/a.
