EFESME is the European SMEs voice in the lift industry, representing and defending at EU level the interests of SMEs operating in the lifts business. The Organization was created in April 2005 as we now count on 15 associations representing 13 EU Member States.

EFESME experts directly contribute to the work of the Technical Committee and its Working Groups within the CEN TC 10, the European standardization body dealing with lifts, escalators and moving walks. Recently, an EFESME expert joined the ISO TC 178, the technical committee of the International Organization for Standardization dealing with lifts, escalators and moving walks. EFESME experts also participate to the Lifts Standing Committee and Lifts Working Group meetings, the bodies assisting the European Commission in the application of the Lifts Directive (directive 95/16/EC).

EFESME intends to provide European Institutions with technical and informative support, offering a clear and comprehensive view about the manufacturing systems of lifts; it wishes to be actively involved in all technical and normative issues which directly or indirectly affect SMEs and their competitive position in the market.
