This was the moment when the theme of Smart cities and intelligent infrastructure became my cause."

IoT for Smart Cities

More than 60% of the Earth's population lives in cities, and the global drive for urbanization will double the urban territory in the next 20 years, according to UN forecasts.

Cities are the economic drivers of the modern economy. They are also the place where we have the greatest potential to increase our efficiency. The problems arising from the global changes and technological progress are increasingly demanding creating digital models of the cities to make them "smarter".

How does the "smart" city look like? Experts' views are united in the idea that a smart city should be seen as a vision for urban development based on technologies - information and communication technologies (ICT) and the Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, in order to securely manage the assets of the city and create a comfortable urban environment.

The leading trend is the creation of a virtual digital city-duplicate, loaded with knowledge and intelligent software, capable of analyzing and optimizing the urban environment in “real” time, for ensuing a higher quality of people’s life in it.
