Bulgarian exports to third countries up 12.8% year-on-year in 2012


Bulgarian exports to third countries, meaning non-EU states, in 2012 were 12.8 per cent higher than in 2011, the National Statistical Institute said on February 11 2013. Exports to third countries in 2012 were 16.9 billion leva (about 8.2 billion euro) while imports increased by 10.8 per cent and added up to 20.6 billion leva, the NSI said, The Sofia Globe wrote.

In 2012 the total value of all exported goods (both for third countries and EU) amounted to 40.7 billion leva and compared to 2011, exports increased by 2.6 per cent while the total value of all imported goods reached 49.8 billion leva and grew by 8.8 per cent.

The main trade partners of Bulgaria were Turkey, China, Russia, Serbia, Macedonia and the United States, which accounted for 50 per cent of the exports to non-EU countries. Bulgarian imports from third countries in 2012 grew by 10.8 per cent compared to 2011 and added up to 20.6 billion leva. The largest amounts were reported for the goods imported from Russia, Turkey, China and Ukraine.
