Since the 1980s Schräder has been developing and producing stainless steel exhaust pipes and is today one of the leading manufacturers of stainless steel chimney technology in Germany.

In 2008 Schräder took up the topics of air pollution control and energy efficiency:

With the fine dust filters developed by Schräder for wood combustion, a reduction of dust emissions of up to 90 % is achieved.

When it comes to energy efficiency, Schräder focuses on heat recovery from industrial exhaust gases. Schräder heat exchangers provide the recovered energy for further use. Possible applications include feedback for internal use in the process, internal use, e.g. for hot water supply or refrigeration, and finally also supply to third parties, such as a local heating network. Schräder also offers heat exchangers that meet the special requirements for use in cogeneration plants.

Schräder currently employs around 80 people in Kamen (North Rhine-Westphalia) and Schönwölkau (Saxony).
