South-East Europe is on Track to a Sustainable Development
Exhibition and Forum on Energy Efficiency, Renewables, Smart Cities, Elevators, Environment and Waste Management (5-7 March 2014, Sofia, Bulgaria)
In the context of the dynamic climate changes and the natural sources rising prices, the necessity of upgrade of the global energy and waste management systems, as well as improving the urban infrastructure comes to the fore.
The countries from South-East Europe are following these trends. They are currently updating their national legislation and investing in new environmental technologies in order to achieve energy independence, to reduce the negative impact on the human health and environment, to build a resource efficient economy.
A great number of projects have been already realized - new intelligent buildings, energy-efficient solutions in the old buildings, smart transportation systems, RES installations, etc.
The 10th South-East European Exhibition and Forum combine the parallel initiatives: ‘Save the Planet’(waste management & recycling), ‘Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy’, ‘SEE Solar’ (solar systems), ‘Smart Cities’(intelligent buildings, energy storage, mobility, ICT & emergency management) and ‘LiftBalkans’(elevators and escalators).
This flag-ship event reflects the latestchallenges in the Region and features strong international participation of exhibitors, visitors, speakers and attendees.
The Exhibition will provide participants with a quick market entry and lucrative opportunity to showcase their advanced technologies to all the important players in the Region. Its aim is to transfer these innovations on the local market as there is still a lackof them.
Via Expo is expecting again a strong international presence.Austria is a Supporting Partner of Save the Planet due to its remarkable achievements. At present, the national eco-industry generates annual revenues of EUR 10.6 billion and employs a workforce of about 87,000 people. For the 5th year in a row the advanced Austrian technologies will be presented at the Austrian Pavilion and Austria Showcase will be also held.
In-depth discussions will engage the attendees and speakers on the following topics: solar roofing, self-consumption of PV electricity, nZEB, smart buildings, passive houses, smart digital infrastructure, resource efficiency, recycling technologies, composting, biogas production, etc.
Euroheat & Power will organize a special session ‘Rethinking District Heating and Cooling in Europe’. The main focus will be on energy efficiency measures and costs, eco-efficient substations, renewables in district Heating – case-studies, etc.Heating represents the largest energy end-use in Europe, being responsible for approximately 50 % of total final energy consumption. Cooling is critical for the correct functioning of computers and manufacturing equipment, and vital for industrial processes. Today, 40 % of commercial and institutional buildings in Europe have cooling systems and their demand is set to grow substantially.By 2020, the District Heating and Cooling sector must accelerate the green transition and will function as the backbone of smart cities by 2030. The energy transformation relies on the involvement of communities.
Dan Staniaszek,Senior Expert at the Buildings Performance Institute Europe, will speak about the EU legislation, relating to energy use in buildings, that imposed a number of requirements on Member States.
Vast promotional campaign is spanning worldwide as many associations and branch organizations support the event. Among them are ESTIF, ECEEE, EREF, Euroheat & Power, WADE, BPIE, E2B, BEE, ACR+, ENEP, CEWEP, FEAD, Austrian Compost & Biogas Association, Umweltcluster Bayern, etc.
A special highlight is the European Conference Day ‘Best Practices in Waste/Resource Management among the EU 28’, organized in a collaboration with ACR+ and ENEP.
