US makes $3 million available for new solar research program
|
The Obama Administration is making $3
million available this year to support research to significantly lower
the cost of solar energy. The funding through the US Energy Department
will enable collaborative research teams from industry, universities and
national laboratories to work together in the Energy Department's
research centers including the Scientific User Facilities to develop
solutions to drive down the cost of solar energy. By accelerating
scientific breakthroughs, these research teams support the Department's
SunShot Initiative goal to make solar energy cost competitive with other
forms of energy by the end of the decade – creating jobs, enhancing
U.S. energy security, and boosting American competitiveness in the
global clean energy economy.
The new program is the first within
the SunShot Initiative to provide engineers and scientists developing
photovoltaic (PV) and concentrating solar power (CSP) technologies with
the tools and expertise of the Department's Office of Science research
facilities, including major facilities for x-ray and neutron scattering,
nanoscale science, advanced microcharacterization, environmental
molecular sciences, and advanced scientific computing. This
collaborative approach will accelerate innovations to lower the cost of
PV and CSP technologies.

REFUSOL GMBH
Refusol 020K

|
New products that will be exhibited:
Refusol 020K -
With a rated AC power of 19.2 kW, the compact inverter REFUsol 020K can
be smoothly integrated into solar installations to help them reach
maximum output. The inverter belongs to the 8 - 20 kW series that is
specifically made for rooftop systems and solar parks, from 8 kW up to
multi-megawatts. Featuring excellent MPP-tracking and a wide input
voltage range of up to 380 to 850V, the solar inverter reaches a peak
efficiency of up to 98.2 per cent, even at a low irradiation level.
Based on this high efficiency, heat is dissipated by convection cooling.
Thanks to the low voltage fluctuations against earth, the
transformerless device can also be used for numerous thin film modules.
Refusol 333K -
With 333kW of nominal power and the patented UltraEta® circuit topology,
the solar inverter REFUsol 333K reaches a peak efficiency of over 98.5
per cent, which allows for optimised energy conversion and usage. The
REFUsol 333K features a higher AC-voltage of 690 V, which is the
established standard voltage level in industrial networks and wind power
plants. It also features a higher DC-voltage of up to 1500 V.
Consequently, industrially-manufactured standard transformers and
compensators can be used with the inverter. With a compact form factor
and a low weight of approximately 850kg, the handling of the solar
inverter is cost efficient, as expenses caused by logistics and
infrastructure requirements are reduced.

REC solar modules ranked first in the year long comparative study
conducted by Photon Laboratory in 2011 which measures energy yield. The
test results show the excellent bankability of REC modules, as their
additional output allows the consumer to have a faster return on their
investment.
REC delivers high performing products by controlling the complete
solar value chain with production from silicon to cells, wafers and
modules to systems development.
